World's Most Expensive Book

As reflects the list of most expensive books in the history of mankind, some publications may be worth a fortune. Rare and unique specimens, which are over several hundred years, go under the hammer for fabulous sums. The first on the list is "Leicester Codex," sold for $ 30.8 million. The buyer of the most expensive book in the world has become America's richest man Bill Gates.

In 1506 Leonardo da Vinci, while in Milan, began to write
Codex Leicester "(The Codex Leicester). He used up 18 sheets of paper on both sides, he folded them in a 72-page notebook. It contains a lot of mathematical calculations, drawings and notes, written by a special mirror type. Now book belongs to Bill Gates, who bought it for 30.8 million dollars in 1994.
