The first chapters of famous novel "Don Quixote" by Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes were written in the Royal Prison of Seville, where he was serving the penalty for false accusation of embezzlement of public money. While in prison, Cervantes came up with his now famous throughout the world hero - an elderly gentleman Alonso Quijano, a resident of the Spanish province of La Mancha. The novel allows readers to plunge into a world of justice and fairness, faith and friendship, the struggle between good and evil.
The famous Florentine statesman Niccolo Machiavelli, accused of conspiracy, was stripped of his post and sent into exile, where he wrote his famous treatise "The Prince". The book is a kind of textbook for future politicians, which is painted in minute detail, how to behave as the ruler in order to achieve higher goals: stability, public order and the steadfastness of the state authority in the world. By the way, the book "The Prince" has become a reference for Joseph Dzhugashvili, the future Generalissimo Stalin, who used the knowledge of the lessons of Machiavelli on people.
The famous writer Oscar Wilde was accused for improper relationship with a young boy, Alfred Douglas. While in prison, Wilde wrote his work "De profundis" - "Prison Confession," which was addressed to his beloved. Wilde, frustrated by the fact that Douglas did not come to court and did not support the writer for a minute, wrote a letter of confession, which speaks of pure love and hatred for the man and the foundations of order, which had been in the society of that era. In his work the writer philosophizes about art, literature, psychology and the human soul. "De profundis" was the last literary work of Oscar Wilde.
The main message of this post is that people in prison may be guilty, may be not. It does not change the fact that they may be useful for the society. Neglecting and ignoring them isn't a solution.
